Jos
Cozijnsen was born in 1960, Hilversum in The Netherlands. Education: Masters
Degree Law
at the University of Utrecht (1985). Specialization: Social-administrative Law. Thesis:
real estate
(appartment property rights). Additional subjects: international law, environmental law,
civil and public suits,
criminal prosecution and non-discrimination law.
For 10 years, he is specialised in climate change, in particular in emissions
trading. With extensive
international environmental law experience, he is deeply knowledgeable about the Kyoto
Protocol's market mechanism, international attitudes towards such mechanisms, and
about current developments in this field.
From 1993 to 1997 he worked for the Netherlands' Environment Ministry and, from 1998 to
2002, as an independent consulting attorney. From May 2002 to April 2004 he has worked
with ECOFYS on corporate carbon and energy solutions. As from that date he working
as
independant consultant working for companies and institutions on several projects.
His focus is on linking business opportunities and developments related to energy and
environment with climate change policy. He has organised numerous workshops on
emissions trading and
climate neutral entrepreneurship, and has facilitated interactive discussions. He gives
legal advice and
develops strategies regarding emissions
trading.
