Time to move on! Last week I attended the 25th IEA/IETA/EPRI GHG Trading Workshop under the feet of the Eiffel Tower. It marked 20 years voluntary carbon market #VCM, involved in 2 bln CO2 project reductions/removals cumulatively. And the EU #ETS has in 20 years brought EU emissions down with 8,5 bln ton CO2, 50% lower than at the start.
My passion is to help crack the carbon code: how to create financial value with reductions and removals
Workshop participants are hopeful the new #Article6 will move the needle further and expect that at least an additional 6 bln ton CO2 can be reduced/removed by 2030, using Article 6 (bilateral 6.2 / project-based 6.4). In the report I co-authored earlier for thinktank Timbro we showed how Sweden can use Article 6.
The meeting also marks a next step in my personal work, as it is time to move to a next chapter after 7 years with Anthesis Group, that I thank for all the support and opportunities. I will further work as independent consulting attorney and carbon specialist out of Utrecht, The Netherlands.
I am available for cooperation and propositions like helping ‘crack the carbon code’ in this new era in which:
- #regulatory and #voluntary carbon markets and #offsetting and #insetting in supply chains can be complimentary, providing also resilience, nature and social co-benefits,
- How to get this corresponding adjustment of ITMOs really done and ]
- #carbonremovals in soils, forests, in agri-food and other raw material supply chains and in buildings and infrastructure, leading to #negative emissions can be #rewarded through a combination of the ETS, subsidies, VCM and EU CRCF
Au revoir et bon chance!
